2016 SuperHero 5K Run, Walk & Stroller Roll

2016 SuperHero 5K Run, Walk & Stroller Roll

Wednesday, Mar 30, 2016

Every child needs a hero but abused children need superheroes. Make a difference in the life of an abused or neglected child today by participating in the 2nd Annual SuperHero 5K Run, Walk and Stroller Roll.  This event will raise community awareness of the 3,000 children in Pinellas and Pasco Counties who have been removed from their homes by no fault of their own. Monies raised will make a difference in the lives of children in foster care here in our local community. The family friendly all ages and abilities event will be held on Saturday, October 15, along the beautiful Safety Harbor Waterfront, starting and finishing at Nolan's Pub, 230 Main Street, Safety Harbor.  The race course is all on road or sidewalk and much of it overlooks the beautiful shoreline of Tampa Bay. We will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with the 5k Run and will have activities afterwards for runners and families.  Awards will be given for top qualifiers of the 5K Run and all participants will receive a medal. Early bird registration at a special discounted price available now-click here to sign up today.

Just like SuperHeroes-our kids wear uniforms too! Many of our children need assistance throughout the year with clothing and items for school, so this year's run, we will also be collecting new and gently used school uniforms in a variety of sizes and colors. We hope to see you on Saturday, October 15 in your favorite SuperHero uniform and we hope you consider bringing an extra change of clothes to support our children all year long!

Seeking Sponsors Now!
Our goal is simple -- that every child has a volunteer Guardian ad Litem to help them navigate the turbulent waters of the dependency system. Guardian ad Litem volunteer child advocates are the voice of the child in court and the child’s best interest is their only interest.  Guardian ad Litem volunteers help children both in and out of the courtroom to make sure their needs are met and they are often the only consistent adult in a child’s life. Tampa Bay’s foster children need more help than the system can provide-and you can help.

There are over 1,300 children that currently do not have a Guardian ad Litem volunteer to safeguard them or advocate for their needs. Not everyone has the time or the heart to be a Guardian ad Litem volunteer but YOU can be a SUPERHERO in the life of a child just by becoming a Sponsor of our upcoming race. In our first year, we had over 350 runners who joined us and this year we plan to double that number through strategic partnerships already in place.

Join us on Saturday, October 15, 2016, along the beautiful Safety Harbor Waterfront, to help raise awareness of the issues children in care face as well as to raise funds to provide resources for children in our local community, such as:

  • Basic needs like beds, clothing, uncovered medical expenses, tutoring and school supplies as well as extracurricular activities that allow kids to be kids.
  • Recruitment, training and retention materials for volunteer Guardians ad Litem who tirelessly give of themselves to advocate for children who have been removed from their homes by no fault of their own.

100% of your sponsorship will be used to further the mission of the Guardian ad Litem Foundation of Tampa Bay.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of sponsoring the SuperHero 5K.  Your support helps us achieve our vision of a world where every child has a safe and permanent home with the opportunity to thrive.
